Missing JNU Student Najeeb Ahmed: Delhi HC Permits CBI To File Closure Report

Missing JNU Student Najeeb Ahmed: Delhi HC Permits CBI To File Closure Report

The Delhi High Court has allow the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to file a closure report in the case concerning the disappearance of JNU student Najeeb Ahmed.

The Delhi High  order was issued on a petition filed by Fatima Nafees, (mother). In the last hearing, CBI had said to court that it had not found any evidence of Najeeb being assaulted a day before he went missing. Accepting the contention, the High Court has now ruled that Fatima can raise her grievances before the trial court, where the closure report is being filed.

The Delhi High Court bench of justices S Muralidhar and Vinod Goel “declined” the plea of the missing student’s mother, Fatima Nafees, to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and monitor the probe, thereby removing the CBI from the investigation.

To this, Fatima had asserted that it was a “political case” and that the “CBI has succumbed to the pressure of its masters”.
