Bhima Koregaon: SC will hear appeal against Bombay HC order setting aside extension of time for investigation


The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a petition challenging the Bombay High Court’s order which set aside the extension of time granted for the completion of investigation in the Bhima Koregaon case.

The Bombay High Court on quashed a special court’s order granting the police an extension of 90 days to file a chargesheet against five activists – Shoma Sen, Surendra Gadling, Mahesh Raut, Rona Wilson and Sudhir Dhawale – arrested on June 6 in connection with the violence in Bhima Koregaon.

The Bombay High Court “The session judge’s order had violated Section 43D of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.”

The Maharashtra government has now challenged Bombay High Court order before the Supreme Court. 

The matter was mentioned before the Bench of Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice KM Joseph by the Counsel of State of Maharashtra, Nishant Katneshwarkar
