Hapur Lynching: SC Directs IG-Meerut To Conduct Enquiry And Submit Report, Issues Notice To UP Govt. 



The Supreme Court on Monday issued notice to the state of UP in connection with the June 18 Hapur Lynching incident which resulted in the death a Muslim meat trader and the Court also directed the Inspector General of Police, Meerut Range to file a report about the incident.
A Bench of Chief Justice of India Dipak Misraand Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud heard Senior Counsel KV Viswanathan before proceeding to issue notice in the matter.

The Bench noted that should the petitioners feel any sense of insecurity, they may approach the concerned Superintendent of Police who shall make the requisite arrangement.
