What Is The All India Bar Examination (AIBE 2023 )?

The All India Bar Examination were considered and approved by the Bar Council of India at its meeting held on 30th April 2010, wherein it was decided by the Council that the examination shall be mandatory for all law students graduating from the academic year 2009-2010 onwards and that candidates may apply to appear in the examination only after enrolling as advocates under Section 24 of the Advocates Act, 1961.

That the Sole intention of the AIBE examination was to improve the standard of the legal profession; therefore, AIBE examination is not relevant for those who are not interested to enter into the legal profession. Therefore, those candidates, who are not interested in practising the law, cannot be exempted from obtaining enrolment before State Bar Council for appearing in the AIBE. The candidate will be awarded certificate of practice after clearing the examination and is eligible to practice in any court in India. The exam is conducted in 40 cities of India in national and regional languages.

All India Bar Examination is a certification exam conducted twice a year by Bar Council of India for law graduates willing to start the practice of the profession as a Lawyer. The exam is conducted in 50 cities having 140 centres as an open book exam. The exam is conducted to assess basic level knowledge of a member and lay down a minimum benchmark for entering into the practice of law in addition to assessing the candidate’s analytical skills. After clearing All India Bar Examination, the candidate is awarded a certificate of practice by Bar Council of India. Qualified members in the exam can attend court hearings in any tribunal’s courts and administrative bodies. The exam is in a multi-choice model and conducted offline in 3 and half hours duration. the All India Bar Examination is a post-enrolment examination where persons are initially said to be provisionally enrolled on an undertaking that they will pass the exam within 2 years of said enrolment.

  • Registration is mandatory for applying online.
  • Your mobile number and email ID must be unique and valid. They will be used for registration and all future communications.
  • Throughout the examination process, it is crucial that you keep your mobile number and email address active and accessible. There is no provision for changing these details once registered.
  • Only one registration is allowed per candidate
  • It is essential to provide accurate information during registration. Any false information found will result in the cancellation of your candidature.
  • In the case of 80% disability, 20 minutes extra will be allotted to the candidate.
• Mandatory document required to fill the Application Form:
  • Matriculation Certificate: (pdf, Maximum 1 MB).
  • Intermediate/Diploma Certificate: (pdf, Maximum 1 MB).
  • LLB 3 Years/LLB 5 Years Certificate: (pdf, Maximum 1 MB).
  • Passport size photograph: (jpg or png, Minimum 4KB,Maximum 1 MB).
  • Signature photograph: (jpg or png, Minimum 4KB,Maximum 1 MB).
  • Enrollment Certificate: (pdf, Maximum 1 MB).
  • Category Certificate: (pdf, Maximum 1 MB).
  • Disability Certificate: (pdf, Maximum 1 MB).
• Fill Application Form and Upload Documents:
  • To access your account and apply for the desired post, enter your Login ID and password on the login page.
  • Fill out all the required fields in the Application form.
  • Fill in the education qualification details prescribed for the Course.
  • Upload passport size photograph: (jpg or png, Maximum 1 MB).
  • Upload Signature: (jpg or png, Maximum 1 MB).
  • Upload Enrollment Certificate: (pdf, Maximum 1 MB).
