edition of MYUN event (April 13-14)  


“Our books, quest and hunger for knowledge and our pens are the most powerful weapons”, says Hon’ble Justice Kanwaljit Singh Ahluwalia, Chief Guest, on the occasion of inaugural function of 2 nd edition of Model Youth United Nations organized by Seedling School of Law and Governance, Jaipur National University, on 13 th April, 2019.

Justice Ahluwalia urged the participants to develop the ideas and evoke quest for knowledge. Citing the example of Steve Job the Founder of the Apple Co, he quoted, “Stay Foolish, Stay Hungry.” He emphasized the importance of having good discussion, right thoughts and accepting the viewpoints of others. He believed, “During discussion, it is good to make a point rather than not to make a point.”

Justice Ahluwalia encouraged the participants to develop the art of conversation, whereby viewpoints are acceptable. He said, “While developing conversation, one must develop eloquence and expression of thoughts. One must also develop a sense of humour and presence of mind.” He believed that the ideas can change the world. He also talked about the rule of law which is acceptable to all.

Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. Sandeep Bakshi graced the occasion. Dr. Bakshi was quite impressed with the topics introduced in MYUN. Dr Bakshi believed this event aims to engage youth leaders from all over the world and to provide a platform to share perspectives in
opinions. He said, “It is a platform where youth mentality in leadership, negotiation and diplomacy will be developed in a Model United Nations.”

During the programme, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) H.N. Verma, said that the MYUN is a place where the students played the role of politicians and delegates of various nations and
expressed their views on difficulties the world faces. It will be an experience which will benefit the students to sharpen their speaking and listening blades and also enhanced their knowledge
about the procedure for resolution and amendment along with the development of leadership and management skills.”

Driven by an educational mission that intends to shed light on the importance of collaboration, the art of diplomacy and the value of key skills such as research, public speaking, debate and negotiation, the Seedling School of Law and Governance initiated its 2 nd edition of Model Youth United Nations, which has brought together students from different schools and institutes to discuss the problems of national importance. The programme will be for 2 days 13th and 14th April, 2019
With focus on different issues, about 160 participants from different parts of the country brainstormed the solutions to bring about the positive changes in the communities.

The 2 nd Edition of the ongoing event aims to inspire the delegates to transform their constructive dialogue in committees into real and decisive action through different themes. The committees and agendas are as follows:-

1) United Nations General Assembly – “Rights and Discrimination Against LGBT

Community”
2) United Nations Human Rights Council – “International Terrorism”
3) Lok Sabha – “Caste Based Reservation”

“MYUN is giving students a platform to improve their leadership skills. This event focuses on helping students translate their global learning from the committees and interactions at the
conference into impactful local actions,” Dr. T.N. Mathur, Director of Seedling School of Law and Governance. is an innovative platform to hone the public speaking and argumentative skills
of the students by discussing matters that concern the youth at national as well as international
level.

“MYUN India is striving to bring together student leaders, who hope to improve their societies through innovative and wide-ranging voices and develop the world socially, economically, and
politically to create a better future for all of us,” said Dr. Mithilesh Vishwakarma, Head of the Department, Seedling School of Law and Governance, Jaipur National University. He further
said, “The participating students come as delegates of a sovereign nation for the entire duration of the conference. MUN serves as a platform for students to get involved in International Affairs,
hone their diplomatic skills and develop confidence in Public Speaking. This meet is aimed to provide the youth an opportunity to learn and develop the art of diplomacy, understand the
international relations among nations and deliberate on the common problems faced every creature on this globe, be it social, economic, political or related to an environment suitable for peaceful co-existence of flora and fauna”.

While giving the vote of thanks, Mrs. Komal Audichya, Senior Coordinator and Faculty Convener of MYUN, Seedling School of Law and Governance, said, “This event is a spark which ignites one’s mind with enthusiasm and confidence. It provides a wide platform for learning, reading, expressing and above all, enhancing. MUNs are not meant for competitions and debating in a hall, but are like a GYM where we practice and develop ourselves.”
